A brilliant place for young and old.The Nature and Leisure Park "SchieferErlebnis Dormettingen" was opened on July 6, 2014. On the 10-hectare area, visitors can experience the past and present use of the raw material oil shale as well as its special significance in our region.In a very simple way, children and adults can search for 180 million-year-old ammonites and other fossils in the oil shale and take them home. A preparator on site gives advice and transforms a find into a lasting treasure. A small tour provides insights into topics such as geology and ecology, raw materials, and much more. An open-air stage and a large open-air area are the ideal place for concerts, theater, cinema, and much more.
